Research Internship at the Translational Medical Device Lab, Galway

National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland

Research focusing on microwave ablation, with a particular focus on antenna design and performance, to achieve localised and targeted lesions in the adrenocortical glands.

  • Manufacturing and testing of antennas.
  • Performing experimental trails on excised tissue (ex-vivo liver, muscle and fat).
  • Investigating the differences between coaxial and triaxial antennas within the aspect of microwave ablation.
  • Understanding the trade offs in duration and power configurations.
  • Becoming competent with CST Studio Suite 2018 for simulations focusing on microwave applications.
  • Publication: Microwave Ablation Antenna for Functional Adenomas in the Adrenal Gland
